To obtain exemption from compulsory attendance requirements, you will need to sign and have a notarized "Statement of Objection and Assurances" form indicating that the legal requirements for school approval and accreditation and the rules and regulations of your state board of education violate your "sincerely held religious beliefs."

Thirty days before beginning your homeschool session, you must file an "Affirmation of Appointment as Authorized Parent Representative" form, indicating your understanding of your duties as a "parent representative" of the parents of the children who attend your homeschool.

Also, prior to beginning, you must submit to the commissioner of education an information summary, including a 175 day calendar, a list of names, addresses, ages, educational levels and experience of any instructional monitors who will work in your home school, a scope & sequence instructional chart or summary including no less than a core curriculum plus health, a list of classes or courses and grade levels and the names of the monitors responsible for these classes or courses.

You must show evidence of your basic literacy or take a minimum competency test.

Your state or local superintendent may chose to visit your homeschool at mutually agreed upon times.

You can call State Dept of Ed. for a homeschool packet. It will contain the forms you need to file and all state laws that apply to homeschooling. It is free.
