New Jersey requires the parent to provide their children with an education, either in a private school, the public schools or elsewhere. You should maintain records or documentation that shows you are providing your homeschooled children with equivalent instruction as in the public schools. However, New Jersey homeschoolers do not have to notify the school of their curriculm or to present it for approval even if asked.

There is no requirement in the law that states that the parents have to initiate notification to the school district of their intent to homeschool.

The State of NJ has the burden of proving *beyond a reasonable doubt* that a family's curriculum is not *equivalent* which does not mean *the same as*.

No testing is required.
