The approval of curriculum and testing policy is up to the individual school districts. You are required to contact your local school committee for approval of your home school.

HOWEVER, first contact a support group to determine the exact homeschooling climate in your county of residence.

Plan to include in your curriculum reading, writing, geography, arithmetic, US history and government, English, health, physical education, and, beginning at fourth grade include history and government of RI and, beginning at ninth grade, the US and RI constitutions.

The language of instruction must be in English.

You must keep an attendance register.

Standardized testing is not required, but your local school officials do have the authority to require some type of evaluation as long as they consider your preferences regarding means of evaluation.
